5 Tips For Building a Strong Network For Your Spa Or Salon
Feb 09, 2023You've probably heard that it's all about who you know. In some cases, who you know can get you a job or a promotion. But in other cases—like when you're starting your own business—who you know will help get you clients. If you keep your network small, it will be hard to scale your business and gain new clients. And if you don't have any clients and no one knows who you are? Well, then who cares?
But what if I told you there are some things you can do to build up an awesome network of people who want to work with YOU?
Here are 5 tips for building a strong network for your esthetician business:
- Give before you get
When it comes to collaborations, everyone wants something out of the deal. But when you're starting out or have limited funds, it can be difficult to offer something up front. Instead, look for opportunities to contribute what you can so that others will want to work with you in the future too.
Be authentic and honest when reaching out to others. If they see that you value their time and effort and aren't just looking for freebies or favors, they'll be more likely to collaborate with you again in the future — even if it's not a paid gig!
- Don't be afraid to ask for help
Don't be afraid to ask for an introduction or referral to someone who may be able to help your business grow or connect you with others who could become clients or referral sources for your business.
You'll be surprised at how willing people are to offer their expertise and advice when you ask them how they built their business.
- Use social media to your advantage
Make sure you are visible online and have a strong online presence. Make connections through social media. Use Twitter chats and Facebook groups to connect with other professionals in the industry and learn about what they do as well as how they market their businesses. Also, use hashtags when posting on Instagram so that people can find your posts when searching for related topics or keywords on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram.
Use tools like LinkedIn to connect with other professionals who are looking for new employees or suppliers (if this applies). You may also want to join LinkedIn groups related to your industry or create one yourself so that others can join the group and see what types of things you post on there too!
- Be patient
Building a strong network of professional contacts and relationships can take many years. It is important to be patient as it can take time to become well known, respected, and trusted in your field. Networking is about building relationships, and relationships take time to develop. It is important to focus on the quality of your interactions rather than the quantity - make sure to be friendly, helpful, and professional in all your interactions. If you keep at it and remain patient, you will eventually start to see the fruits of your labor and have a strong network of professional connections.
- Attend industry events
Get involved in the community by attending events and networking opportunities. Invest in live training and workshops so you can not only continue to build your knowledge, but also your network. Attending IN-PERSON training will allow you to meet people face-to-face, people who have similar careers to you, and people with great success in your industry (the instructor/s) who can help you grow your business.
Spa Strong® is proud to host multiple in-person workshops. Check out our upcoming workshop here.
